How do you visualise how AI works? Does anyone even know what it's doing underneath all this code? How does it know how to make pictures or write poems? Seriously, I need to know, because I'm making an animation to explain how AI works. This was the challenge.

We needed a vehicle to help visualise and explain AI to anyone, from kids to grandparents. 3D animated visuals helped build on the depth and detail of AI systems and even gave supporting roles to Koalas. Working directly with the CSIRO, we learnt how AI works and how best to explain it.

Visualising DATA

Abstract data was used to show clusters, pattern sorting and depth of data.

Maps

After consulting with AI researchers at the CSIRO, we learnt of a fascinating explanation of AI using maps. The maps became a central component in helping demystify how AI works behind all the code.

Environments

Sets were created to showcase the real locations where CSIRO is helping manage large scale environmental issues using AI.

Koalas

The fluffy big eared koala became a central figure in the AI explanation as it was used to illustrate a generative AI example.

Characters

Playdough or fluffy? Character design went through an evolution before settling on a more adaptable character set that could easily be changed to suit different outfits and ultimately share the one animation rig for speed. The same concept as swapping out a Lego hat or hairstyle.
